The Inaugural Anhedonic Headphones Podcast- "Nostalgia and Musical Memories"

Well well well. What do we have here?

A bit of back story: Some of you who know me in person, or have, like, visited the links that I have posted here and there on the site, know that for the last five years, I have been the co-host and producer of a 60 minute "variety" show on our town's local radio station- KYMN 1080AM. This is the station where I also had a daily show for 2.75 years. The "variety" show started out as airtime given to a youth-run youth center in town, The Key. I worked there as an Americorps Promise Fellow for a year from 2008-9. After my time was done, the station management liked what I had done with the show and wanted to keep it and me around.

And so here we are, five years later. And it's me, and like three to four other people-- mostly teens, sometimes not teens, and we play music and make jokes and read funny news stories. You can listen to it here if you want to.

Adam Casper, a friend I've made through doing the show (who also has a degree in broadcasting if you're looking to hire him) suggested we do a bit of a side-project pod cast that was more music based, and not just us making jokes for a hour. It seemed natural to tie it into this blog.

So there you have it, I guess. The history of how we decided to create the Anhedonic Headphones podcast.

The first episode has the theme of nostalgia and musical memories, which are both topics that I've covered in more of the essay based pieces I've written for the blog. Our task was to each pick four songs that related to very specific memories of our youth/formative years, or just songs that take you back to a general time in your life.

The selections, are of course, QUITE eclectic.

So here you go. Please download our inaugural podcast. We'll be doing these maybe twice a month (as scheduling permits) and if you have suggestions on topics for us to talk about, tweet to me, fuck with me on facebook, or leave a comment here.

If I ever have time, I will look into setting this up in the iTunes store. But for now, this'll have to do.

Thanks, and enjoy.
