The Column of Disquiet - "Skeleton Tree"

ICYMI, a bunch of tornadoes came through my area recently.

I had already sent in my column about the Defeat of Jesse James Days, and two days after the storms rolled through, my editor posted the piece.

Whenever I finish a piece, and send it off, I'm left wondering 'What comes next?' Like what other topic can I stretch out; what kind of nostalgia can I exploit?

Very late on the evening after the storms had finished, there was a moment when a lot of things converged, and I thought, 'Well, I guess I have my next column.'

This is mostly about one thing, but it's also about some other things too.
